i have problems and issues and feel the need to overexplain everything all the time so here's an attempt to keep track of things for the sake of anyone who wanted references.
or maybe i'm just crazy and need things organized or else. who knows.
likely the latter.
this is also just sort of ... a summary of stuff from the comics for those who don't want to read it. lol

so, first and foremost, these are references to my fic, the window, which is a miguel/reader story because i may be cringe but i am free.

there are references to the comic throughout the fic, with explanations in the notes, but these are more in depth things and screenshots if. anyone cares. (crazy)

there are other comic runs, other things he's featured in, but for the sake of this fic i'm mainly only using the original 1992 run. others can be found on that site tho

background information, misc. about miguel:

miguel has a younger brother, gabriel (gabe, gabri), and his parents are george and conchata o'hara, an irish-mexican family.
george is very abusive to the family, but has been shown to favor miguel of the two, likely due to his intelligence. miguel is very protective of gabriel.

tyler stone, alchemax CEO, has been calling miguel 'mike' since he was a boy.
coworkers at alchemax call him mike, though he is very insistent it's miguel or mig, miggy to close friends and family, and never mr. o'hara.
very rarely called dr. and spider-man is occasionally shortened to just s-man.

attending a private alchemax-funded boarding school for his high intelligence, miguel meets xina kwan and kron stone, tyler's son.
kron bullies and harasses both xina and miguel, who get him expelled. xina studies AI while miguel studies genetics.
they begin dating at some point during their school years; xina creates miguel's live-in apartment AI, lyla, and miguel begins working for alchemax.

aaron delgato, miguel's supervisor, to miguel; issue 1

between starting his job at alchemax at the start of the comic, miguel goes on a double date with xina, his brother, gabriel, and gabriel's girlfriend, dana.

panel of dana meeting miguel:

miguel, xina, gabriel and xina; issue 37 - roughly 3-4 years before the comic starts (by my estimation)

a couple months later, they have an affair; things end badly with xina; miguel and gabriel have a rocky relationship; later, miguel proposes to dana and things with gabriel clear up.

at the beginning of the comic timeline, miguel is testing combining DNA.
miguel makes a comment to aaron about the future of split genetics, possibly eventually creating something like half spider, half man, such as the great late hero, spider-man.
in 2099, the golden age heroes of the 1990s are regarded highly.

miguel and jjj, spider-man 2099 meets spider-man - a really fun special issue

when tyler demands better results, they call in a human test subject, despite miguel's protests.
when the subject dies, miguel attempts to quit; tyler drugs him with a DNA-bonding hallucinogen, rapture, that makes you addicted for life.
having previously uploaded his own genetic code into the database, miguel attempts to override the rapture and erase it from his system.

aaron sabotages it by throwing in spider DNA, intending to kill miguel, who then turns into spider-man, with the addition of talons on the pads of his fingers and toes and paralyzing venom via fangs.
his webs come from the top of his wrist, he has heightened vision (at the expense of incredible light sensitivity) and does, ultimately, kick the addiction, despite its impossibility.
the only clothes miguel has that won't rip from his talons is a day of the dead costume, and he affixes a torn sky-kite to the suit as a cape.

miguel, issue 2

at one point, lyla malfunctions and miguel has to ask xina for help, after a period of no contact.
they connect again, strictly platonic, much to dana's displeasure, who believes they've getting back together.
dana visits miguel and argues about him cheating on her with xina; he loses his temper, they fight and break up.
stone visits dana, comforts her about the break up and they begin a relationship. can't recall if it was ever implied to be sexual or not, but they live together.

tyler says he knew miguel was spider-man from the very beginning, conchata implies the same. gabriel recognized the costume. i don't believe anyone else ever learns.
gabriel's girlfriend, kasey, falls in love with spider-man, creating a lot of conflict between them.
she's specifically obsessed with his ass. it's a constant thing with her and others about how tight the suit is and how firm his buns are. it's great.
